What did you learn?
I was so excited that even someone like me with a little technology knowledge (and growing) could develop a blog with the help of 3 very patient moderators (thanks so much to you and Brandie for encouraging me to continue when I nearly quit!)
How will you use what you have learned?
I would like to start a blog during the school year about Bluebonnet books and a challenge I put to incoming 5th graders to read Bluebonnet books where we could discuss them, their likes and dislikes, etc.
How did you feel about staring a blog?
Well, I felt totally inadequate and intimidated, until I read about the others and used the steps given. I don't understand it all, but I feel like I am getting it bit by bit.
What do you not want to forget your blog?
How can this be used in the classroom or in your educational role?
I think this would lend itself much more to high school and college, as I saw the use in posting about upper level assignments. I am not sure of the use otherwise as it takes most elementary kids too long to type and time is so precious and short.
Should you use this in the classroom or your educational role?
I don't think it would be applicable for second graders in any of the blogs I looked at.......especially the typing element, many of my students do not have keyboarding skills.
What questions do you still have about this your blog?
I hope to continue learning about this, I am not sure what questions to ask! I have learned a lot, but still have a lot to learn.

You are doing fantastic! So many colors and various fonts! You are getting it! I have had some second grade teachers blog with their students, expecting shorter comments from them. Also consider blogging with parents, it would be a fantastic resource tool for them, and way to share information and get feedback on items. You could also assign homework for parents and child to read together, or something along those lines. Keep up the good work!

I already send my weekly newsletter home in a hard copy paper as part of my parents don't have computers and I email to all who do have computers and they email me back if they have questions or concerns. I guess this is one question I still have about blogs vs. email. What would the advantage of the blog be over the email....most of the time their concern or comment is more personal and wouldn't be shared on a blog. Does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteThe blog's advantage comes into play when you find yourself answering the same questions over and over again via email. Usually, if one person has a question, then someone else is thinking it to. It can also be helpful for parents that don't want to ask the question or perhaps they don't know what kinds of questions to be asking.
